How to Install Mega Man X ReGenesis on PC, Android & Linux

A portable ZIP is simple, but it creates a common installation mistake: running the program directly from the compressed archive. Archive viewers can make that look possible while extracting only a temporary executable, leaving required neighboring data behind. Always extract the whole folder. If you want a desktop shortcut, create it from the extracted executable after the game launches successfully.

Do not place a fresh version on top of an older folder. Extract version 1.00.51 into its own directory so you know exactly which build is running. Saves are designed for Godot's user data area, not the install directory, but a clean folder still avoids leftover-resource confusion. Keep the previous version until the new one starts and your progress appears correctly.

Download the Android APK from the official itch page on the device you plan to use. The checked listing shows a 130 MB package for version 1.00.51. When the download completes, open the APK from the browser download list or file manager. Android may block installation from that app until you grant a one-source permission. Map actions by meaning, not by copying another player's physical button labels.

For classic Mega Man X movement, arrange jump, shoot, and dash so at least two can be pressed comfortably together. Wall-jumping while charging, dash-jumping, and firing during movement become much easier when dash does not compete with the same finger used for jump. If your controller double-inputs or misses the D-pad, disconnect duplicate virtual-controller software, connect the device before launching, and test a clean profile.

Hadouken uses action input rather than a separate secret button. At full 32 HP with the standard weapon selected and X standing on the ground, enter quarter-circle forward and press shoot within the motion window. If you rebind shoot, use the rebound shoot action. The move does not trigger while jumping or dashing.

A safe backup copies the entire identified user-data folder while the game is closed, then places that copy in a dated directory. Never edit the only copy of a JSON save.

Before an update, capture the old game version, operating system, and backup date.
