Version 1.00.51 · updated August 25, 2026

Mega Man X ReGenesis is a free fan game built around the speed, precision, boss hunting, Special Weapons, and upgrade-driven exploration that define the Mega Man X style. This independent Mega Man X ReGenesis wiki puts the two things players search for most at the front: the official Mega Man X ReGenesis download and a practical, mechanics-based guide to the entire game.

Download Mega Man X ReGenesis from the official page

The current Mega Man X ReGenesis download is listed on the creator's official itch.io page as version 1.00.51. The page offers separate packages for Windows PC, Android, Linux x86_64, and macOS. This wiki does not mirror the ZIP, APK, executable, or game data. That keeps the download path simple: use the creator's page, choose the package that matches your platform, and return here for installation help and the game guide.

Windows and macOS players receive compressed archives and should extract them before trying to play. Android players receive an APK, while Linux players receive an x86_64 build. The visible sizes on the checked page are 102 MB for Windows, 130 MB for Android, 152 MB for Linux, and 123 MB for macOS. These are display sizes, not checksums or minimum system requirements. If itch.io shows a newer version, trust the official listing and read its update notes before replacing an existing copy.

What you are playing

A new Mega Man X campaign with its own stage logic

ReGenesis is not a ROM hack or a small boss demo. Its campaign begins at Fractured Highway, opens into eight Maverick stages, and continues through the fortress sequence. Each Maverick stage has a boss, a Special Weapon, an armor upgrade, a Heart upgrade, and twenty data chips. Four of those stages also hold E-Tanks. That design makes every stage useful even after the boss is defeated: the first clear unlocks a weapon, while later revisits can finish movement-gated or knowledge-gated collection work.

The eight Mavericks are Skyblade Squirrel, Subterra Scorpion, Arson Vulpine, Tundrion Bear, Stellar Primate, Bog Snapper, Rail Raccoon, and Hydro Axolotl. Their arenas belong to Turbine Facility, Desert Data Center, Geothermal Power Plant, Frozen Ruins, Orbital Research Station, Biomechanical Preserve, Forest Railway, and Waterfall Caves. The game's identities are memorable, but the useful wiki question is always the same: which weapon does this boss give, what is the boss weak to, and what upgrade can the stage add to X's kit?

That is why this site connects stage, boss, weapon, weakness, and upgrade in one table instead of scattering them across thin pages. The complete Mega Man X ReGenesis wiki lets you scan all eight relationships, while the boss order guide turns the weakness data into a route. The install page covers the files and saves; the update page tracks the current release; the tier list explains which upgrades change a run the most.

Bosses and weapons

The Mega Man X ReGenesis boss weakness system has two loops

A conventional Mega Man X boss order is often described as one chain. ReGenesis is different. Static analysis of version 1.00.51 shows two four-boss weakness loops. One loop revolves around Jolt Seeker, Hydro Breaker, Flare Burst, and Boulder Bouncer. The other revolves around Comet Splitter, Wind Torrent, Sand Spreader, and Cryo Shard. Because the loops are separate, no route gives you a weakness for all eight bosses from a single opening win. You must defeat one boss with the X-Buster in each loop.

A clean first-clear plan is therefore to choose two comfortable openers, then follow the weakness arrows. Hydro Axolotl is weak to Jolt Seeker, Arson Vulpine is weak to Hydro Breaker, Bog Snapper is weak to Flare Burst, and Rail Raccoon is weak to Boulder Bouncer. In the second loop, Skyblade Squirrel is weak to Comet Splitter, Subterra Scorpion is weak to Wind Torrent, Tundrion Bear is weak to Sand Spreader, and Stellar Primate is weak to Cryo Shard.

100% completion

Eight upgrades, eight Hearts, four E-Tanks, and 160 chips

The Mega Man X ReGenesis collectibles are part of progression, not just decoration. The eight armor upgrades add an upward punch, charged Special Weapons, a level-three buster shot, defensive recovery, a downward kick, faster repeated shots, a midair jump, and an air dash. Movement upgrades have obvious exploration value, while the combat upgrades make later bosses and fortress stages more flexible.

A complete save contains all eight Heart upgrades, all four E-Tanks, all 160 data chips, all eight armor upgrades, and every Special Weapon. On Standard and Easy, armor purchases cost fifteen chips each; on Veteran they cost twenty. The total chip count matters because Hadouken requires every chip alongside every Heart, E-Tank, and upgrade.

Hadouken appears in Sigma Fortress 1 after the collection requirements are satisfied. Package logic also checks repeated visits to the capsule platform, but the exact visit/death sequence still deserves runtime confirmation. Once unlocked, the move requires full 32 HP, the standard weapon selected, X standing on the ground, and a quarter-circle-forward plus shoot input performed within the move's input window. It is designed as a one-hit boss answer, with a static damage value of 64.

Completion extends beyond items. The game contains 27 achievements, including full upgrades, every chip, Hadouken, a no-death clear, a no-upgrade clear, hidden discoveries, no-damage challenges, and S-Ranks for the campaign stages. The wiki lists all 27 so completionists can plan the difficult objectives before starting a specialized run.
